16HR First Responder Operations (FRO)

Training Description:

Hazmat First Responder Operations are individuals who respond to releases or potential releases of hazardous substances to protect nearby persons, property, and/or environment from the effects of the release. Their responsibilities include assisting in controlling and minimizing the spread of the hazmat release, knowledge of defensive hazmat techniques, experience in basic air monitoring, technical and mass decontamination, assisting with evacuation and victim rescue, and establishing hazard zones. This course meets OSHA requirements under 29 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) 1910.120(q)(6)(ii), the California Code of Regulations Title 8, Section 5192 as well as any HAZWOPER training requirements for the EPA.

Couse Details

  • Understanding and learning the basic hazard and risk assessment techniques.
  • Learning how to select and use proper personal protective equipment.
  • Understanding the terminology related to the physical properties of a hazard.
  • Learning how to perform basic control and containment operations within the capabilities of resources and personal protective equipment available.
  • Learning how to perform basic decontamination procedures.
  • Describe and follow standard operating and termination procedures.
